KnitMesh Technologies’ Compressed Shielding Gaskets represent a breakthrough in providing effective protection against EMI and RFI. Constructed using knitted wire mesh, these gaskets offer a seamless, robust solution with either a rectangular or round shape, meeting the diverse needs of modern applications.
The manufacturing process involves die-compressing a specific amount of knitted wire mesh, enabling the production of gaskets in various sizes and densities to cater to specific shielding requirements. While the most common shape is a ring, the flexibility of custom shapes enables the incorporation of special features like bolt location holes, mounting recesses, and corner radii, allowing for precise integration into diverse equipment and systems.
In addition to their superior shielding capabilities, these gaskets boast excellent heat conductivity, resilience to high temperatures, and shock absorption properties, making them exceptionally well-suited for demanding environmental conditions. Their ability to maintain efficiency in challenging settings further underscores their reliability and practicality in real-world applications.
EMI refers to the phenomenon where electromagnetic energy disrupts the normal functioning of electronic devices and systems. This interference can originate from various sources such as power lines, electronic devices, radio transmitters, and even natural occurrences like lightning strikes. The consequences of EMI can manifest as noise, disturbances, or signal degradation, leading to compromised functions and unreliable performance of electronic equipment.
RFI, a subset of EMI, specifically relates to interference caused by radio frequency signals. When signals emitted by radio transmitters or wireless devices interfere with the reception or transmission of signals in electronic equipment, the result is impaired performance and compromised functionality. Devices such as radio receivers, telecommunications systems, and medical equipment are particularly susceptible to the effects of RFI.
Compressed Shielding Gaskets have emerged as a robust and effective solution to protect electronic devices from the detrimental effects of EMI and RFI. These gaskets are constructed from conductive metals, such as stainless steel or copper, and are engineered to create a resilient seal when installed in electronic enclosures, connectors, and other critical areas of electronic equipment.
