Properties
In addition to their well-known aesthetic and workability properties, most precious metals are relatively inert and exhibit very stable temperature and corrosion resistance in certain harsh environments making them ideal choices in conditions where more common metals would degrade.
Applications
Gold and silver mesh is attractive in either sheet, rope, or pressed form for use in the production of jewellery such as bracelets and brooches. Platinum (MP = 1768oC) is highly stable in the human body and the mesh has been used in experimental trials as surgical implants.
